At the North American International Auto Show this year, Chevrolet unveiled an all-new model. However, it wasn’t anything that you’ll be able to drive. It was a life-size LEGO Batmobile.
The 17-foot long LEGO creation was made to celebrate the release of the new LEGO Batman Movie that comes out this month. It was designed and assembled at the LEGO Model Shop in Enfield, Connecticut by LEGO Master Builders (Isn’t that a job you would like to have?).
It took 222 hours to design and 1,833 hours to build the Batmobile. In total, there are 344,187 LEGO bricks in 17 different colors in the model. It measures 204 inches long, 83 inches high, and 111 inches wide and weight a total of 1,695.5 pounds.
To further enhance this partnership with Warner Bros., Chevrolet even created a model page for the Batmobile on its site. From there, you can see that the Batmobile is available in 13 different shades of black, can tow up to 120,000 pounds, and gets 20,000 horsepower from its 60.2-liter V100 engine. And, it only costs $48 million. Okay, it’s not really for sale, but it’s fun to imagine what it would be like to own and drive a real Batmobile.

When it comes to innovative powertrain systems, Chevrolet knows just what to do. That is why it comes as no surprise that the 2017 Chevrolet Volt was recently awarded a coveted spot on the Wards 10 Best Engines list from WardsAuto. This is the second year in a row the Volt has received this prestigious honor, and the third time overall it has shown up on the list.
“The Chevy Volt propulsion system wins a spot on the Wards 10 Best Engines list for the second year in a row for three reasons,” said WardsAuto Senior Content Director Drew Winter. “It has a torquey, fun-to-drive personality. It offers impressive electric-only range of 53 miles, and efficient gasoline-powered range whenever you need it for anxiety-free driving. That is flexibility unequaled in the automotive world.”
To power the Volt, Chevy has created a two-motor drive unit that generates 294 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an 18.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The Volt received an extended range thanks to a 1.5-liter gasoline Ecotec engine. Together, this system helps the Volt achieve some of the most impressive numbers in the industry, with an EPA-estimated 106 MPGe rating. It also offers 53 miles of all-electric range and 420 miles of total driving range.
Volt drivers have managed to drive an estimated 1.5 billion EV miles since the introduction of the model. This has helped save an estimated 58 million gallons of gas. This award-winning engine isn’t the only great feature the Volt has to offer—it also comes standard with Teen Driver Technology, which helps monitor your teen’s driving habits, and has other available safety tech like Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Automatic Braking.

The Detroit Auto Show is always a major stage for vehicle reveals, especially for the American carmakers that make Detroit their home base. This year, the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse debut is set to occur during the show in January, introducing an updated version of the popular midsize crossover that is sure to impress.
The Chevy Traverse has been in production since 2008, providing consumers with a practical, spacious ride. It is one of the oldest vehicles in Chevrolet’s lineup and is starting to show its age, since it hasn’t seen a refresh since 2008. For the new model, the American carmaker has stated that it will offer a “bold and refined design with seating for up to eight passengers,” but the details on this crossover are few and far between.
We do know that the 2018 Traverse will feature “D-Optic” headlights, which are meant to give better lighting than other systems. Chevy also wants the Traverse to have class-leading third-row legroom and cargo space. The 2018 model will also share a platform with the GMC Acadia, which means it will likely have some of the same upgrades that the Acadia debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.
When the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse debuts at the Detroit Auto Show, it is bound to make a lasting impression. To learn more about the current Traverse, stop in to Bill Roberts Chevrolet for a test drive.
In this hectic life, there isn’t always time to take care of the little things around us. Unfortunately, that often means that our rooms, homes, and cars aren’t always quite as organized as we may like them to be. Here are a few simple tips on how to keep your car organized.
A lot of junk tends to get thrown in the trunk, and it piles up into quite the mess. If you can find a way to divide your trunk space, or fit in collapsible bins, you can organize all of the different stuff that gets thrown back there.
Instead of letting little things pile up all over the interior of your car, find something to put all of the stuff in. One example of this is to repurpose an old remote caddy from your house. If you can strap them to the backs of your front seats, you have extra space to store little things like headphones, toys, or anything else that may be sitting around.
If you’ve ever opened your glove box to a mess of papers and napkins, there’s a simple fix. Find some old folders to organize all of the papers that are sitting in your glove box.
By getting creative and thinking outside of the box, you will find a lot of different ways to organize your car.
Purchasing a car is both exciting and intimidating. It’s one of the most important financial decisions that you will make this year, as making the wrong choice can lead you into financial chaos. For those looking to spend their money wisely, there are plenty of great options out there. Here is how to buy a car on a budget.
Establish a Budget
This may seem obvious, but many people fail to establish a firm budget for themselves when purchasing a car. Determine what you can and cannot afford, and cross out every single option that is over your budget. If you’re making payments on the car, determine how much you can afford to pay each month.
Just Say No
If you’re buying your car at a dealership, learn the word ‘no’ real fast. They are going to offer you a lot of different things to try to talk you into buying a different car than what you came in for. While it may be tempting when that nice new car is sitting in front of you, you have to be able to say no if it isn’t in your budget. However, do not be afraid to negotiate.
If you follow these simple tips, you will not overspend on your car.
Taking care of your vehicle properly starts with routine maintenance. Winter is right around the corner, which means it’s time to take the proper steps to ensure your vehicle runs all winter long. Don’t get stuck out in the cold waiting on roadside assistance! Here are a few helpful tips to prepare your car for winter from us here at Bill Roberts Chevrolet.
- Battery – Taking care of your battery is pertinent if you want your vehicle to start in cold weather. If your battery is more than three years old, odds are its time for a replacement. Examine your battery for bulges, cracks, leaks, and other potential problems. Scrape the corrosion off the posts while you’re at it.
- Oil – Fresh oil is far more efficient than old oil, which is why an oil change is highly recommended at the change of the season. Changing the oil ensures your engine will operate at peak efficiency. That reduces the risk of an engine problem on the road, especially in winter.
- Lights – Staying properly visible is just as important as being able to see. That’s where your lights come in. Take the time to clean the lenses and replace any burnt out bulbs. Doing so decreases the likelihood of an accident due to decreased visibility.
Chevrolet didn’t steal the 2016 SEMA Show, but it certainly grabbed a good portion of the spotlight. While other automakers spent their time designing and engineering power-packed vehicles and custom creations that won’t see the public market, Chevrolet went another way. Chevrolet’s Blue Line concepts turned heads for plenty of reasons. Best of all, most of the upgrades made to the Blue Line vehicles will be available to the public by mid-2017.
The Cruze Hatch RS, a sportier version of the Cruze hatchback, took center stage with its Genesis White paint and Slate Blue Metallic wheels. The chrome grille was one of a few cosmetic changes.
The Cruze Hatch RS included a few performance upgrades that visitors couldn’t see. A lowered suspension, performance brakes, and a new intake and exhaust system made the short list. All of the upgrades will be available to the public by mid-2017, if they aren’t already.
Chevrolet also brought a Malibu Blue Line concept to the 2016 SEMA Show. Like its smaller sibling, the Malibu Blue Line concept saw a Genesis White paintjob and Slate Blue Metallic wheels. Unlike the Cruze Hatch RS, the Malibu also saw a blacked-out grille insert, bowtie badging, and illuminated doorsills, to name a few changes.
Here at Bill Roberts Chevrolet, we’re proud to see fantastic cars getting more options to make them even better!
Whether you’re an avid Guinness Book World Record follower or just have the book as a coffee table read, you can admit there are lots of awards that are fascinating and unbelievable. Well, Chevy is joining the Guinness Book, so now you definitely have a reason to check it out!
So just what did Chevy do to earn a Guinness World Record? Well, in Fort Worth, Texas, the 2017 Silverado HD did some serious work! They set the record for World’s Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle.
You may ask, “Is that a record?” But it is! Really, anything can be a record. The occasion was the State Fair of Texas, and appropriately enough, Texas is the largest truck market. The 2017 Silverado flew the U.S. flag for the event, and broke a record in the process.
To set the record, the Silverado had to drive at least 100 meters flying the flag. The flag could not touch the ground for the record to be passed. But don’t worry, the Silverado passed with flying colors! The flag, which was almost 3,200 square feet, was flown effortlessly by the Silverado for four laps around the track. That’s one and a half miles!
Check out the 2017 Silverado today to see what you can tow!
You love your Chevy, but there’s more than just yours! Throughout Chevy’s nearly 105-year history, there’s been some pretty epic cars that have come along. Here are some iconic Chevys that have graced the road.
1914 Chevrolet Royal Mail Roadster
This is easily one of the most iconic Chevys, with an intriguing and dynamic design. It lived up to its “Royal Mail” name, with edgy and contemporary lines that gave it that high-class look.
1936 Chevrolet Suburban
The Suburban of the ’30s looks nothing like the Suburban of today, but it definitely made an impression at the time. It stood out because it had even more room for eight people than other stations wagons of the ’30s.
1948 Chevrolet Pickup
America loves trucks, and especially Chevy trucks! The new Advanced Design pickup immediately became a success because of roomier cabins and that famous pickup truck resourcefulness. It was perfect for the “working man” or for families.
1953 Chevrolet Corvette
The Corvette debuted its distinct sports-car styling and powerful engine in 1953. This was only the start of the Corvette but it was famous almost immediately.
These are just some of many famous Chevys. What’s your favorite?
