We here at Bill Roberts Chevrolet pride ourselves on the quality Chevrolet and Buick vehicles that we sell, which are protected with General Motors’ latest and highly innovative safety technology. Even so, we highly recommend that all of our customers build a car emergency kit, just in case things don’t go their way out on the road. Here’s everything you should include in your kit:
Some common car mishaps include a dead battery and flat tire. Make sure you have jumper cables, jacks, a lug wrench, and, of course, a spare tire. Some other tools to have on hand include a flashlight (with new batteries), a hammer, and screwdrivers.
Food and Drinks
In case you become stranded, you will want to have bottled water in the car. Also pack high-protein, nonperishable food items.
Blankets and Warm Clothes
If your car emergency happens in the winter in a cold climate, you will be grateful to have blankets in your trunk. You should also keep extra hats, gloves, coats, and scarves packed, as well.
First Aid Kit
Purchase a small first aid kit with bandages and other essentials, just in case someone gets hurt while away from home.

Kelley Blue Book, commonly called KBB, helps consumers determine the value of their own cars and potential cars they may purchase. It also awards automakers and their models for leading the industry in different ways, such as providing the best cars for families. In this year’s KBB Best Family Car awards, Chevrolet SUVs beat out the competition for the title.
The three winning SUVs are the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, and the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The 2018 Equinox won in the best two-row SUV category. KBB lauded the Equinox SUV for its 2018 redesign, which made the Equinox roomy and feature-laden; those features include the Chevrolet MyLink audio system and OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi.
The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse won in the best three-row SUV segment for the same reasons as the Equinox: It is roomy and packed with features. The new Traverse offers up to 98.2 cubic feet of cargo space, which is a segment best.
Finally, the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe won in the best three-row full-size SUV category for its seating (up to nine) and towing capability. With the 5.3-liter V8, the Tahoe can haul up to 8,600 pounds.
All three SUVs are available now at Bill Roberts Chevrolet, for test drive and purchase. Experience them for yourself when you stop by our dealership.
Treating your vehicle to routine maintenance is the best way to ensure its longevity on the road. Ideally, you’ll bring your car into service at Bill Roberts Chevrolet every season for maintenance to make sure it is road-ready. Here are the types of spring car maintenance you’ll need to consider as we (finally) head out of winter:
Follow your owner’s manual for oil change frequency instructions. Depending on how often and far you drive, you may need an oil change two, three, or even four times a year. If you are a frequent driver, the changing of the seasons is a great reminder for an oil change.
After a wet winter, it’s probably time to replace your wiper blades—before those April showers.
Check Your Tires
Winter can do a number on your tires. Check their inflation and their tread. If you used winter tires, change them out for all-season ones.
Test the Lighting
Now is a good time to see if any bulbs burnt out over the winter since you probably used your lights more often. We can replace any bulbs that have burnt out.
Test the Battery
Cold weather can drain your battery. Test yours to make sure it is still functioning properly after winter, and replace it if necessary.
For more maintenance suggestions, call us or schedule a service appointment, to ensure that your vehicle is safe and functioning smoothly as you transition into spring.
If you’re not sure whether you should buy or lease your next vehicle, you’re not alone. Many shoppers are unclear on the benefits of each choice. To help you narrow it down, Bill Roberts Chevy Buick has created this buy vs. lease guide.
If you would like to stick to the same car for many years to come, buying is the way to go. When you buy a vehicle, you become its owner, so you can make any modifications you’d like. There’s no limitation to how many miles you can put on the vehicle, whereas a lease will restrict your annual mileage.
Leasing a vehicle is essentially like renting one long-term. A lease is a good idea in a few different circumstances. For instance, lease agreements tend to have a lower down payment as well as lower monthly payments, so they’re great for shoppers on a budget. Secondly, since a lease ends after one to two years, it’s a useful option for those buyers who like to stay on top of the newest available technology, safety, and performance features in a vehicle.
If you have further questions about whether to buy or lease your car, visit Bill Roberts Chevy Buick. We have excellent options in both categories and will be happy to help you find the financing option and the vehicle that are right for your needs.
If you’ve been keeping an eye on what’s new in the world of Buick and Chevrolet, you’ve heard of the new Buick Avenir trim level. The high-end configuration made its debut this year in the new 2018 Buick Enclave mid-size SUV. The luxury of the Avenir sits above all other trim levels in the Buick lineup, adding elegant details and advanced technology. Now, the Avenir will make its second appearance, this time on the 2018 Buick LaCrosse.
The full-size, luxurious Buick LaCrosse will become even more elegant with the addition of Avenir features. The vehicle will make a statement upon arrival with a unique mesh grille with chrome wings, 19-inch Pearl Nickel wheels, a Chestnut colored interior cabin, and embroidered first-row headrests. The Buick LaCrosse Avenir will also come with built-in navigation, a Bose sound system, and a panoramic moonroof. It will be powered by a 310-horsepower V6 engine.
It made sense for Buick to choose the LaCrosse as its next model for the Avenir trim. According the Buick, when buyers shop for a LaCrosse, 9 out of 10 already opt for one of the higher trim levels. With the introduction of the LaCrosse Avenir, it seems likely that buyers will happily embrace that next level of luxury.
The 2018 Avenir is expected to arrive at dealerships like Bill Roberts Chevy Buick early 2018. Follow our blog for future Buick LaCrosse Avenir news.
Before the true winter season hits, you’ll want to get out and enjoy Bolivar. Here are some of the best things to do to enjoy the last of that fall weather.
Seek out events where you can find some original Bolivar food trucks, like the “Not’cho Ordinary Taco Truck”–a serious crowd pleaser. Hawaiian Surf ‘n Turf Taco and the Never Fake Cheesesteak are some favorites.
Dunnegan Memorial Park
Enjoy the beautiful fall scenery while it’s here at this beautiful park. There are ample picnic spots as well as winding paths around its small lake. Plus, even when it does get cold, you can drive around the park for its Christmas light show.
Want to cook local? It’s easy with the Farmer’s Market, which is open every Saturday from 8am until noon. Here, you’ll be able to find locally-grown fruits and vegetables as well as baked goods, jams, and meats. Even if you’re not looking for food, you can find other items to buy local, like handmade soaps.
No matter what the weather is like in Bolivar, there are always unique fall weather activities around Bolivar to do. While the weather is still crisp, and not yet cold, try to enjoy the great outdoors in the seat of a new Chevy from Bill Roberts Chevrolet Buick.
Seeing your favorite car on the screen can make your favorite movie even better. Here are some well-known titles where you can catch famous Buicks in movies.
Buick is one of the main stars of this road trip movie. In Rain Man, Charlie Babbitt goes on a road trip with his autistic brother, Raymond. What are they road tripping in? Their father’s inherited 1949 Buick Roadmaster that Charlie himself stole years back.
Cars… in Cars? Believe it or not, this talking-car movie absolutely features a Buick – in villain form! The villain of the movie, Chick Hicks, is modeled after a 1980’s Buick Regal. Its boxy ‘80’s feel gives him the tough vibe needed to be a real villain.
La La Land
One of the hit movies of last year (and maybe even of the decade) features a 1982 Buick Riviera throughout the movie. It stars in the opening sequence, with Ryan Gosling behind the wheel. And of course, it becomes a joke later in the film when he honks that Buick wheel every time he picks Emma Stone up for a date.
You might not be a movie star, but you can always be a star when you’re behind the wheel of a Buick. Find your dream Buick today at Bill Roberts Chevrolet Buick.
Halloween is fun for a number of reasons: the scary movies, the haunted houses, the bobbing for apples, and of course the costumes. But let’s face it; you can only dress as a sheet ghost so many times. Get creative this year and let your automotive love mingle with the Halloween spirit. These car-related Halloween costumes will impress at any spooky party.
Race Car Driver
If you’ve always wanted to be a race car driver, now is the time to embody that personality. It’s easy to find colorful, patterned clothes that will work for this, and you can glue/pin on some fake printed patches. Carry around a steering wheel or a checkered flag and you’re good to go.
Used Car Salesman
Halloween is the perfect opportunity to poke a little fun at silly stereotypes. Comb that hair over, find the tackiest suit you can at your local thrift store, and put on a big smile as the finishing touch. Just be sure to tell your friends that the folks at Bill Roberts Chevy Buick aren’t really like that!
If you need something last-minute to wear, you can easily create a road sign costume using some cardboard, paint, and string to tie it on. Make your sign a traditional one, or come up with your own party-themed road sign to fit the evening’s energy.
If you use one of these ideas, we would love to see it. Send us a picture!
Buick has become synonymous with luxury and sophistication in the automotive world; but now, our favorite brand is exceeding expectations by introducing an all-new high-end trim: the Avenir. The Buick Avenir trim will include optional amenities as standard features. Each Avenir vehicle will also share the same sophisticated design details, like a new, three-dimensional mesh grille.
The first iteration of the new Avenir nameplate is the all-new 2018 Buick Enclave. This mid-size SUV has been treated to a number of exciting updates. These include a new nine-speed automatic transmission that pairs to the 302-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine, plus new standard features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and LED taillights.
For many Enclave enthusiasts—and the team at Bill Roberts Chevy Buick included—the addition of the Avenir trim is exciting news. The 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir has all possible features and amenities, including additional leather trim and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Buick Enclave Avenir also adds useful tools like a Rear Camera Mirror and LED headlamps.
We’re looking forward to seeing the next Buick Avenir model. But for now, we’re smitten with the level of elegance in the first-ever Buick Enclave Avenir.
Used cars are a great way to save big on buying your next vehicle, but the downside is that buying used comes with its own set of risks. When you find that perfect used car at a low price, you might be worried if it’s too good to be true, with a host of undetectable mechanical failures waiting under the surface. You can bypass these concerns by purchasing certified pre-owned vehicles instead of used ones. Certified pre-owned, or CPO, programs are run by auto manufacturers so customers have access to more reliable previously-loved cars.
Take Chevy, for example. Chevrolet requires all vehicles used in their CPO program to be less than six years old and to have less than 75,000 miles on the odometer. In addition, customers get benefits like a warranty, a schedule maintenance plan that covers two visits, a free Vehicle History Report, and more. The way it works is that Chevy takes a used vehicle that’s been given back to the dealership and subjects it to a 172-point inspection. If the vehicle passes the tests, it gets certified.
We have a whole host of certified pre-owned vehicles on our lot here at Bill Roberts Chevrolet. If you want an option for buying a new ride that is affordable and reliable, opt for Chevrolet’s CPO program.
